Assessment is key to understanding where your students are in their learning journey,  and how you as educators can support them whether the support needed is in terms of interventions or to support students to work at greater depth.

Assessments should not just be at the beginning, middle and end of the  academic year. Assessments that make a real difference should be allowed to take place whenever a teacher feels that a student has made enough progress to move onto the next stage, or even to assess whether intervention action plans are having the desired impact.
